Aaliyah Dana Haughton and Aarti Mann

Aaliyah Daniel Haughton exploded into fame in 1994 when she released her debut album Age Ain't Nothing But an Numer. The album came out as Gold when she was fifteen years old. R. Kelly was a key influence on the collaboration which put the singer into the limelight. In 1996 Jermaine Durpri and Timbaland joined forces to record the second album of hers, One In A Million. This album featured If Your Boyfriend Only Knew as the number one. Aaliyah was recognized internationally for her work as an R&B artist with the release of her sophomore album One In A Million. The year 2000 saw her co-starred with the famous martial arts star Jet Li in Romeo Must Die. Joel Silver, the film producer, met her at the awards ceremony and kindly offered her the part. Queen of the Damned was her debut role in 2002. It is based off the Anne Rice novel. The Matrix Sequels followed, with Zee as her character. The singer has received four Grammy nominations from 1999 to 2003. However, she is also known as Aarti Magumdar. While she started out with tiny film and television roles, her acting started to gain momentum around the middle of 2000s. Other notable work includes Grey's Anatomy, Suits and Leverage. She has also been featured in commercials of major companies like the international auto manufacturer Volvo. She currently lives in Los Angeles along with her husband, daughter and pursues her acting profession.
