Aaliyah Dana Haaughton rose to notoriety after she released her first album Age Ain't Nothing but A Number in the year 1994. The album was Gold at the age of fifteen years old. This collaboration was strongly influenced by R. Kelly, and made her a star in the spotlight. In 1996 she collaborated with Jermaine Dpri as well as Timbaland on her sophomore studio album One In A Million, which featured the #1 hit track If Your Girl Only knew. The second album of Aaliyah called One in a million came out in the year 1996. It included the first smash single,"If You Girl Only Knew. In 2000 she starred in the romance and action movie Romeo Must Die alongside martial artists Jet-Li. She got this role when she was spotted by film producer Joel Silver at an awards show. She was cast in the vampire film that was based on Anne Rice Queen of the Damned, that was released in 2002. The Matrix Sequels was her first appearance in The Matrix Sequels. She has also been as a character in The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions (2007). She has been awarded four Grammy nominations for the year 1999, 2001 and 2002 and 2003. The actress is the very first generation of Indian-American born in Connecticut. Mann is an abbreviation of her married first name Mankad. Aarti is a combination of Aarti Majumdar and Aarti Munn as her professional names. Though her first professional career was mostly dominated by small television and film roles, she gained more notoriety in the late 2000s. Her other notable projects include Grey's Anatomy, Suits and Leverage. The actress also appeared in a variety of commercials including Volvo and many other major car brands. Her acting career continues in Los Angeles, where she lives with her son and husband.
