Aaliyah Dana Haughton and Aarti Mann

Aaliyah Dana Haughton came into the limelight in 1994 when she released her debut Album Age Ain't nothing but a number. Her album, which was launched when she was only 15 years old, went Gold. The album was a collaboration that was highly influenced by R. Kelly and it put the singer in the limelight. In 1996, she collaborated alongside Jermaine Dupri as well as Timbaland to record her follow-up album One In A Million which contained the number-one hit single If Your Girl Could Only Know. Aaliyah was recognized internationally as an R&B performer with their release of the second album One in a Million. Aaliyah starred alongside the famous martial artist Jet-Li Romeo Must Die (2000) the action and romantic film. Joel Silver spotted her in an award show. In 2002, she was able to appear in the vampire flick Queen of the Damned which was based on the Anne Rice novel. The Matrix Sequels was her first role in The Matrix Sequels. She had also appeared on The Matrix Reloaded (2003) as well as The Matrix Revolutions (2007). In 1999, 2001, 2002, and 2003 the singer was nominated for four Grammy Awards. The actress is the first Indian American to be born in Connecticut. Mann is an abbreviation of her first name in marriage, Mankad. But, she has both Aarti Mann and Aarti Majumdar as her professional name. Her acting career started in the early 2000 with small appearances on television and in films. The actress has also been featured in Leverage, Suits, Grey's Anatomy as well as Grey's Anatomy. The commercials she has done have been for prominent brands like Volvo. She currently lives with her family in Los Angeles along with her husband, daughter and pursues her acting career.
